Easter gifts tend to be based around a theme. Is the theme eggs, to symbolise new life? Nope.
Chocolate. The theme is chocolate. Yes, sometimes the chocolate is shaped into eggs, but it’s the chocolate that’s the key component.
Easter is basically just an excuse to eat funny-shaped chocolate.
So if you have someone in your life who can’t eat chocolate, for whatever reason, then getting an Easter gift for them is a challenge.
Here are some of our suggestions for gifts you can buy or make that are totally chocolate free.
1. Scotch eggs
Want to stick to the eggs theme, but in a more savoury way? Why not try making some scotch eggs from scratch? They’ll appreciate the effort, and you can even display them in a cute novelty basket for the true Easter feel.
2. Paint your own Easter egg kit

This can be as DIY or as fancy as you like. Either hard-boil some eggs and get some felt-tip pens, or get one that will be slightly more long-lasting, like this.
3. Cress heads
Remember these, from your childhood? You chop the top off an egg, empty out and clean the shell, put a damp piece of cotton wool in your egg shell and sprinkle on some cress seeds. Draw a funny face on the shell and watch the cress hair sprout out. They’re fun, nostalgic and seriously low-cost.
4. Knit your own bunny kit

If you’re feeling particularly generous you could buy this kit, knit the bunny yourself, and present your non-chocolate-eating friend with a symbol of the many hours of effort you went to for them. Or, just give them the kit and watch them slowly lose their mind as they attempt to knit anything that vaguely resembles the picture on the box.
5. Bunny socks

How about some little hipster bunnies to wear on your feet? Google ‘bunny socks’ and it’ll take you hours of find the perfect pair to suit your friend.
6. Novelty egg cups

There are so many novelty eggs cups out there, you’re spoilt for choice. Whether your friend is into Batman, Star Wars, or cutesy things, you’ll have no trouble.
7. Peter Rabbit

Anything relating to what might be the most well-known bunny rabbit is always good for an Easter present. Take a look at the Peter Rabbit store and be overwhelmed by the cuteness.
8. Cockerel mug

At the less cutesy end of the scale, how about this pretty darn manly tankard mug – with a cockerel on it! Crucially, you can get loads of tea in this mug, so it’ll be a favourite all year round.
9. Egg mould

Your friend can bring some excitement to their fried eggs with an egg mould! You can get them in simple shapes like hearts and stars, or you can go wackier with a skull mould.
10. Hot Cross Bun Gin

What could be more Eastery than a fresh, spiced hot cross bun… with tonic?
