Sir Bradley Wiggins has found a novel way of warming up for the Rio Olympics, by taking part in a local time trial in the village of Bickerstaffe.
Regulars were given quite a shock when they saw the Tour de France winner rock up at the start line, complete with high-tech bike and Team Wiggins attire.
The 36-year-old is currently in training for the 2016 Olympics, though he won’t be doing anything especially fancy to prepare for the games.

Instead he rode the 10 mile time trial course around Lancashire and – unsurprisingly – posted the fastest time of the evening, finishing in 19 minutes and 15 seconds.
The presence of the four-time Olympic goal medallist, who was riding for the “Wiggins” club, seemed to motivate some of the regulars, with two rather impressively finishing within a minute of the great man.
Wiggins is bidding to win his fifth Olympic gold medal in Rio later this summer, and is expected to take part in the team pursuit – the same event he won at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
