A failed Islamist suicide bomber who injured himself with a homemade nail bomb has died in prison.
Nicky Reilly was found dead at HMP Manchester – also known as Strangeways – on Wednesday.

The cause of his death has not been disclosed.

The Muslim convert had changed his name to Mohamed Rashid Saeed-Alim before attempting to blow up the busy Giraffe restaurant in Exeter in 2008.
He was labelled the ‘least cunning person ever to have been charged with terrorism’ after accidentally setting off the homemade device in the toilet and injuring himself.

The device was made up of three bottles filled with caustic soda, kerosene and nails attached to a detonator.
Reilly, who had Asperger’s Syndrome and learning difficulties, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and preparing acts of terrorism in 2009 and was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
