Sinead O’Connor actor Stephanie Davis has announced that she’s quitting Hollyoaks.
Davis, who has played Sinead since 2010, said that it was a decision made ‘with a heavy heart’.

Why has Stephanie Davis quit Hollyoaks?
Davis made the announcement that she’s leaving Hollyoaks via Instagram, sharing a statement along with an image of the words ‘goals: be happy’
As a caption, Davis wrote: ‘Sometimes we make decisions based not on what we want but what we know is right!
‘I have loved bringing Sinead into your homes for the past ten years but it’s with a heavy heart I have decided to leave Hollyoaks and now looking forward to working on new and exciting projects. Excited!’
This announcement came mere days after her costar Rachel Adedeji announced that she’d quit the soap, having made the choice to leave last year.
On the subject of Davis’ departure, a Hollyoaks spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘In mutual agreement with Lime Pictures, Stephanie Davis is leaving her role as Sinead O’Connor on Hollyoaks.
‘We would like to thank Stephanie for her huge contribution to the show and the enjoyment her character Sinead has brought to fans.’
It’s not yet known for sure if Sinead’s final scenes have already been filmed, because, the last we heard from her, she was a no-show at her own wedding to Sami.
She told him she couldn’t go through with the marriage and stayed in Spain.
In December of last year, Davis opened up about her relapse and a previous suicide attempt, saying that was the reason why she hadn’t been to work at the time.
She shared a heartbreaking video of herself in which she apologised to her family and says she ‘can’t live anymore’.

When Davis shared the video, she explained that she was in recovery, but the 26-year-old described herself ‘still fragile’.
Explaining why she shared her story, Stephanie said: ‘If I wasn’t in the public eye, I would be dealing with this with my family and loved ones, but I feel I need to be honest because the pain I’ve been through has been so UNBEARABLE that I HAVE to help other people.’
