Tom Cruise takes no chances as he doubles up on face masks while greeting fans on set of Mission: Impossible 7

Tom Cruise was taking no chances as he mingled with fans while on the set of Mission: Impossible 7.

Filming has resumed again on the upcoming movie, with Tom reprising his role as Ethan Hunt in the much-loved franchise.

The actor, 58, has been throwing himself into production and has already been seen filming many daredevil scenes that have had him leaping from boats in Venice, coming to blows on the roof of a moving train and high-speed car chases with his co-star Hayley Atwell.

That’s not to say it hasn’t been hit by multiple setbacks due to the coronavirus pandemic, with bosses reportedly in ‘crisis talks’ over filming after 12 people involved with the crew allegedly tested positive for coronavirus.

Stepping out on set in Rome, it’s no surprise then that Tom was seen taking no chances with his health, as he covered up in not one, but two face masks.

The Hollywood star was seen greeting fans, who were stood around watching the scenes as they unfolded, while keeping his nose and mouth covered and from a safe distance.

Tom seemed in good spirits as he addressed the crowd and at one point, he was seen giving a thumbs up to onlookers.

Dressed smartly in a grey suit and purple tie and shirt, Tom adhered to health and safety precautions and sported a blue disposable face mask underneath a black protective covering.

When he wasn’t mingling with fans, Tom was getting stuck into his latest scenes that seemed to involve his car being surrounded by smoke.

According to The Sun, 150 extras were turned away from set prior to filming being shut down.

‘There are about 150 extras involved in the filming and late on Thursday they were all told not to turn up for work and they would be notified when they would be allowed back on set,’ an insider revealed.

‘No official reason has been given but it’s feared it’s down to Covid and this will be the second time the production has been hit because of the virus.’

Filming for Mission: Impossible 7 was brought to a halt, earlier this year, when the coronavirus pandemic first hit and the film and TV industry was brought to a halt.

As a result, the film has seen its release date pushed back until November 2021 and Tom had reportedly forked out a huge £500,000 to rent out cruise ships for the crew, when filming picked up again in July in Norway, to keep them safe from the virus.

He was determined not to see any more delays to filming and so took extra precautions.
