Money plays an important role on popular Channel 4 B&B competition Four in a Bed.
Four Bed & Breakfast owners spend the night in each other’s establishments, paying what they think the stay was worth in cash, over the course of four episodes.
Though the payments don’t get revealed until the end of the final episode – sometimes with dramatic results.
But do the contestants pay for their stays using their own cash? Or is it supplemented by Channel 4?
Do Four in a Bed contestants spend their own money?
It’s believed contestants pay out of their own pocket initially – choosing what they think is a fair amount for their stay.
However, in a Digital Spy forum for show superfans, someone involved with the series seemed to confirm that contestants get reimbursed for whatever they’ve paid.

User fallowfields commented: ‘Yes, the contestants pay and then the programme reimburses them.’
They also added that the producers make up payments for any contestants who’ve been underpaid for their stay.
‘The programme also makes up any shortfall to the hotelier,’ they wrote. ‘Not sure what happens to over payments though.’
Though this sounds likely, it is unconfirmed, so we’ve asked Channel 4 for comment.
Do Four in a Bed contestants get paid?
It is understood that contestants don’t get paid to appear on the programme.
Though as mentioned, it’s believed they do get their full fees for the rooms they provide to fellow contestants.
So, the hotelier doesn’t lose out on any cash. And hopefully gets some nice promotion for their B&B.
When is Four in a Bed on TV?
