A heartwarming family moment for Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) takes a sadder turn in a recently released Coronation Street spoiler video.
Yasmeen (Shelley King) invites Stu’s daughter Bridget (Beth Vyse) and granddaughter Eliza (Savannah Kunyo) for brunch.
The little girl delights Stu by playing them a tune on her guitar as Bridget looks approvingly on.
Eliza announces her plan to keep learning the guitar, although Bridget says she previously decided to quit because you can’t have long nails and play the guitar. Stu says if she keeps practising she could be the next Patti Smith – which of course means nothing to Eliza.
When Yasmeen goes to make more coffee, Eliza asks Stu whether he and Yasmeen are together and says she’s ‘Dead nice.’

It’s all going beautifully, but when Eliza starts to ask Stu about what it was like in prison, Bridget’s mood instantly shifts and she tries to shut the questions down.
Stu is happy to answer and he says the experience was horrible. He says the hardest thing was what was happening on the outside, never being there for Bridget as she was growing up.
‘So much time wasted,’ he says sadly.

Bridget gets more and more uncomfortable during this conversation, eventually rushing outside.
Stu’s absence from her life for all of those years was clearly upsetting for her – but is there something more going on?
