The LGBT+ storylines in The Last of Us have been widely praised among fans across the globe, telling heartfelt stories of loving, authentic relationships against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world.
However, there are bafflingly some naysayers out there who don’t want to watch romances that aren’t heteronormative (and to them, we simply want to say: jog on).
Pedro Pascal – who stars as Joel in the TV show based on the video game of the same name – has been a vocal supporter of the LGBT+ community for years.
So it should come as no surprise that when he was quizzed by a member of the paparazzi about those who criticise the inclusion of LGBT+ plots in the series, he delivered a response that was both fantastic and to-the-point.
The Mandalorian actor was spotted getting out of his car while on the phone in Hollywood, Los Angeles, where he was asked by the TMZ reporter: ‘Can I ask, what do you say to the people who don’t want to see the LGBT character love stories?’
‘They do!’ he exclaimed in response. Quite right.

The member of the paparazzi didn’t stop there, continuing to press the actor for more answers as they asked: ‘Why is it so important that LGBTQ+ characters are on TV shows?’

Yet again, replying to the question, the 47-year-old answered: ‘I think you’re asking the question because you know why it’s so important.’
‘Can you tell me why?’ the reporter said, while Pedro once again responded: ‘You know why.’
Several Twitter users expressed their admiration for the actor’s polite and calm demeanour despite being continually pushed for an answer while just going about his day and also willingly taking a photo with a fan at the same time.
‘Gagged her with a side of politeness, he’s the best,’ one person tweeted, while another wrote: ‘He’s just too nice… Love him even more.’

In a recent Instagram post, Pedro shared a series of pictures of the Progress Pride flag and the transgender flag, quoting Bob Dylan in his caption as he wrote: ‘The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind #LGBTQIA.’
His Last of Us co-star Bella Ramsey was among those who commented, writing: ‘Love love love’ alongside the emojis for the flags.
