Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) has been doing everything he can to avoid a trip to Thailand to meet Sonia Fowler’s (Natalie Cassidy) daughter Bex in EastEnders, and it seems he has finally managed to put her off the idea.
With their relationship seemingly going strong, Sonia was eager to introduce her new lover to her daughter, Bex, who is currently in Thailand having left the Square in 2020.
However, not everything is as it seems when it comes to Reiss.
It was recently revealed that he has been hiding a pretty massive secret, after a phone call proved that he had a secret wife.
Because of this, the idea of going to Thailand to meet Bex was horrifying for Reiss, and he has been making excuses to try and prevent the trip ever since.
However, it became difficult to persuade Sonia to cancel, even after explaining that he didn’t have a passport.
When he realised that Sonia had sorted an appointment for him to get a passport, and was determined to come with him, he did everything he could to ensure that they were too late to attend.
In a stroke of luck, their paths crossed with Bernie and Bailey (Clair Norris and Kara-Leah Fernandes), who were protesting the use of planes in a bid to save the environment.

Bailey explained that the were collecting signatures to pledge against aviation pollution, which Reiss agreed was a very important matter.
He pointed out, though, that signing the petition would make them hypocrites, seeing as they were about to take two long haul flights to Thailand.
Bailey was horrified, and pointed out the damage that they would be responsible for causing, leaving Sonia feeling a bit put out.
The pair ultimately decided to sign the pledge, and Sonia revealed that Bailey’s speech had cast doubt in her mind.

Reiss assured her that that wasn’t a bad thing, and that he didn’t fly well anyway.
She pointed out that there may be other ways to see Bex, like meeting her in Europe instead.
Reiss immediately took control of the situation, telling her to leave all of the planning to him.
