EastEnders has teased viewers with a first look at new character George Knight (Colin Salmon) as part of a video encouraging fans to vote for them as the British Soap Awards.
The video, posted on Twitter, shows highlights from the past year of drama on Albert Square, from weddings to funerals and everything in between.
Moments like Mick Carter’s final scene, Lola’s brain tumour diagnosis, the Mitchell’s flashback and the legendary flash forward to Christmas 2023 all appeared, reminding viewers just how strong the BBC soap has been over the past year.
Following the trip down memory lane, the video concluded with a look into the near future, and the arrival of the Knight family.
As a siren blared in the distance, George Knight made his way through the crowded Bridge Street market, a bag slung over his shoulder and one of his daughters shouting for him to ‘wait up’.

The Knights are set to take over the Queen Vic, with Linda Carter having been forced to sell up following Mick’s disappearance last Christmas.
Despite receiving offers from both Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry), Linda turned to mum Linda Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) with the hope of being able to stay in the pub.

Elaine, George and daughters Gina and Anna (Francesca Henry and Molly Rainford) are set to arrive on the Square later this year, and will bring plenty of drama with them, according to producer Chris Clenshaw.
‘We’re thrilled to welcome this hugely talented group of actors; Colin Salmon, Harriet Thorpe, Francesca Henry and Molly Rainford who will be immediately thrown into the heart of the Square, and we can’t wait for everyone to meet them.’ He said.
