Gogglebox favourites Mary Killen and Giles Wood have managed to pay off their mortgage thanks to money they’ve made from the show.
Mary and Giles joined Gogglebox in 2015 and were an immediate hit.
Their eccentric bickering and dead pan reviews of the week’s television highlights have never got tired and long may they continue.
After more than eight years on Gogglebox, the couple – who have been married for more than 30 years – have admitted they’re enjoying some of the benefits of being armchair critics.
‘I think we were able to pay off the mortgage,’ Giles told BBC Radio Scotland’s The Afternoon Show of some of the positive aspects.
Despite keeping ‘very quiet’ about their earnings, Giles added: ‘I leave all the paperwork to Mary because she’s more interested in the details of life.

‘I take a broad brush approach to life.’
Giles admitted that even after appearing on television for almost a decade, he still gets surprised when people recognise him on the street.
Mary, however, teased: ‘But the thing is, when I go out, which I do much more than Giles, people usually come up beaming saying, “Are you Mary off Gogglebox? Your husband makes us laugh.”
‘They’re always very pleasant.’
