Carol Vorderman has been catching up on some Married At First Sight, and the episodes have led to an epiphany of sorts.
The 62-year-old has recently been ill, and so took an enforced break from work and while recovering she spent her time in the best way possible – watching reality TV. Celebrities, they’re just like us!
Her medicine of choice was MAFS, specifically the Australian version, and much like Natasha Bedingfield in 2004, Carol’s now feeling super grateful for her current single status.
There’s no way she’s trading places, particularly with the cast of the programme.
‘As I’ve had Covid recently, I’ve had time to watch the telly,’ she explained.
‘I started watching MAFS Australia. I don’t usually watch shows like that.’

We’ve no idea why Carol doesn’t spend all her free time watching complete strangers marry each other, and then desperately trying to make the relationship work.
‘I watched about 20 hours of it. My conclusion is, I’m glad I’m single!’
‘I am very happy,’ the Pride of Britain host summarised to OK!

Carol is no stranger to the aisle – she has previously been married twice to Christopher Mather from 1985 to 1986, then to Patrick King, who is the father of her two children Katie and Cameron, from 1990 to 2000.
The former Countdown presenter now prefers to keep things more casual and dates multiple men, who she affectionally calls her ‘special friends’.
‘I’m having the best time,’ she told Michelle Visage on her Rule Breakers podcast.
‘I have a system which I’ve had for 10 years. They’re called ‘special friends’.

‘There’s no harm being done. It’s a happy place to live,’ she expressed.

‘The only thing I was sold when I was young was a fairytale with a poor girl meets a prince they get married and they lived happily ever after.
‘This whole assumption: “Have you got a partner yet? Have you got a man?” Well, no actually I’ve got five.’
Now Carol has put in a shift with the Australian series, she really needs to clear her schedule and also catch up on the UK counterpart, which is already drama-filled and will probably reinforce her feelings about staying single.
