Actress Ione Skye has shared screengrabs of her last ever text message exchange with Matthew Perry.
Perry – who co-starred alongside 53-year-old Skye in 1988’s A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon – died at his LA home on Saturday aged 54.
Sharing her heartbreak over her former colleague’s death, Skye took to Instagram to post a photo of herself and Perry captured decades ago alongside grabs of their last texts.
She captioned her upload: ‘My last exchange a week ago. I’m very very sad. Loved this guy.’
Perry kicked off the exchange by writing: ‘Hi! I hope all is well. I was meditating (I meditate now) and In Your Eyes started playing. And I instantly thought of how beautiful you are.’
The late star was referencing Skye’s iconic performance in Say Anything, in which John Cusack’s character attempted to woo Skye’s by blasting music out of a boom box.

Perry’s message was sent on October 15.
In response, Skye wrote: ‘Awe. I love that,’ prompting Perry to add: ‘Hope you are healthy and happy.’
‘Yes, I am both. I think! Good to hear from you. I only have nice memories with you,’ said Skye.
Perry then replied: ‘Me too. That one afternoon, I was just sitting in my apartment and there you were!’

A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon starred the late River Phoenix – who died of a drug overdose in 1993 – as the titular character.
Perry played Phoenix’s best friend, while Skye landed the role of the latter’s girlfriend.
A day after Perry’s death, it was confirmed that the initial results of his autopsy were ‘inconclusive’ and a toxicology report has been requested.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner also confirmed that Perry’s body can be released to his family despite the fact an official autopsy conclusion might not be ready for weeks.
Before it can be determined what Perry died from, further investigations – such as the toxicology report – need to be made, NBC News reports.
According to US media, Perry was found after drowning at his Los Angeles home over the weekend.
His family spoke of their heartbreak in a statement, telling People: ‘We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother.
