Lorraine Stanley reached out to a former EastEnders colleague as she prepares for new roles ahead of her soap exit.
The actress, who has played Karen Taylor for six years on the BBC One soap, previously revealed that she experienced a ‘mix of emotions’ after learning that her character would be written out of the show.
However, her latest Instagram snap showed that Lorraine is already thinking about life after Albert Square.
She shared a picture of a self-made audition room complete with panels, lights, a tripod and a chair, as she prepared to do some self-tape some brand-new audition clip to send with the guidance of her former co-star Zack Morris (who played on-screen son Keegan Baker).
She wrote: ‘Self tape setup in the loft, I’m so not technical but I’m proud I’ve managed to set it up all by myself with advice on equipment by @_zack_morris.
‘Just finished one and it’s hard work… I’ll get there. It’a struggle watching yourself back & not being highly critical on yourself… just let it go and send it #SENT.’
Zack wasn’t the only EastEnders co-star to reach out as Lorraine recently thanked co-star Gillian Wright, who plays Jean Slater, for a special gift. ‘I love my hat you made @therealgillianwright. It’s so warm and cosy and fits perfectly,’ she said.

Lorraine stated that she was excited about her post-EastEnders life, saying ‘I’m looking forward to my next chapter and excited about being a jobbing Actor again & starting new ventures.’
It seems that she’s taking steps to get into that new life, having embarked on a new fitness regime.
Working with her friend, personal trainer Louise Appel, Lorraine posted some snaps on her Instagram stories showing herself kitted out in gym gear and looking toned and healthy – a far cry from her frumpy character Karen.
