Kym Marsh, 47, was forced to pull out of BBC’s Morning Live after falling ill, it’s been revealed.
On Thursday’s show, presenter Gethin Jones announced to viewers why his co-star was absent from the programme.
Explaining why Rav Wilding, 46, was appearing alongside him instead, he explained: ‘You’ve got me and Rav today. You’ve stepped in because Kym Marsh is not here today, she’s meant to be. She’s ill, isn’t she?’
Rav then chimed in to add: ‘She is unfortunately. She called in a few hours ago.
‘She’s sick, possibly stress-related, and I think she’s got a lot going on at the moment, and possibly shingles as well. So nasty if she’s got that.’
‘Kym I know you’re watching at home, get well soon.’
Gethin, 45, went into further detail regarding what’s been happening in Kym’s life as of late with her family.
‘Just so nasty. She’s got so much going on with her dad [Dave] at the moment, she’s been on Morning Live, Dave’s been on Morning Live talking about his prostate cancer.
‘We know that doctors can no longer treat him.’
Gethin then turned to the medical experts they had in the studio with them for the episode, asking whether shingles can be related to stress.
‘Stress can cause, it can bring it on,’ answered Dr Oscar Duke. ‘We don’t entirely understand why. Sometimes if your immune system’s being over-challenged, if you’ve got another infection, we sometimes see it.’
Shingles is an infection that causes a painful rash, the NHS explains.
The first signs of the infection can include a tingling or painful feeling in an area of skin and a headache or a general feeling of being unwell.

It’s advised that you should contact NHS 111 or ask for an urgent GP appointment if you suspect that you might have shingles.
In 2021, Kym revealed on Morning Live that her dad had been diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer.
In November this year, she gave her fans an emotional update, sharing a picture on her Instagram Story as she wrote: ‘Another scan for dad. Never away from the hospital these days.’
