David Walliams was confronted about his rocky exit from Britain’s Got Talent by Lorraine Kelly in a cringeworthy moment.
The talk show host asked the comedian and children’s book author if he’d been watching the latest season of BGT and whether he was ‘sorry’ about how he left the show in a shocking moment.
Walliams, 52, looked briefly surprised by the question before gracefully pivoting back to discussing his other projects.
He said, ‘I’ve been travelling a lot, so I haven’t had a chance to see it.’ He then went on to say he’s been enjoying all the extra time he’d had to be creative and continued to talk about his writing pursuits and other upcoming projects.
While it’s clear that Walliams is not prepared to discuss the controversy, many fans clocked the awkward moment, with one X user, @Suzy_H14, writing, ‘David Walliams trying to be diplomatic about #BGT # Lorraine.’

User @TheBettingZone1 posted with evident sarcasm: ‘Walliams not bitter at all about bgt #lorraine’
Some even admired the artful dodge, with @BevMaccas writing: ‘David Walliams would make an excellent politician.’
The comedian was booted from BGT last year and replaced by Bruno Tonioli over leaked recordings which exposed scathing remarks about contestants.
He later apologised for his offensive comments, stating: ‘I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020.
‘These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.’
More recently, Walliams took legal action against FremantleMedia for ‘significant damages’ claiming a data protection breach over the leaked transcript of his comments.
The case was settled late last year, and Britain’s Got Talent producer apologized to Walliams, and they reached an ‘amicable resolution.’
Fremantle also said it is ‘sincerely sorry’ that his ‘private conversations’ were published.

‘We are sincerely sorry that his private conversations when a judge on Britain’s Got Talent were published, and the great distress this caused David.
‘We have reviewed our production practices on the show to ensure they fully respect the expectations of our talent whilst satisfying the requirements of the show.’
