Everything you need to know about Brighton Pride

Brighton is preparing to welcome hundreds of thousands of revellers for their annual Pride event this weekend.

From Girls Aloud and Sophie Ellis-Bextor to parade start times, we’ve compiled all the information you need to have a fabulous day out.

This year’s theme is Joy: celebrating life, spirit and resilience.

What time does Pride begin?

At 11am, the Brighton and Hove Pride LGBTQ+ Community Parade will set off from Hove Lawns and finish at Preston Park.

It will feature over 100 charities, community groups, emergency services, and representatives from the NHS.

The Kemp Town party will then kick off on various streets in Brighton – Steine Street, Manchester Street, Broad Street, Camelford Street and more.

Drinks will be flowing as drag queens perform to help raise money for Brighton Rainbow Fund and Pride Social Impact Fund.

Fabuloso in Preston Park begins at 2.45pm and features Girls Aloud, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Billy Porter and more stellar performances.

If dancing and parades aren’t your thing, Sussex Cricket will put on a One Day Cup Pride Match against Leicestershire at Hove cricket ground on Sunday.

Transport during Pride

With hundreds of thousands expected to descend on Brighton for the fun weekend, transport services have been modified to help manage the crowds.

Preston Park and London Road will be closed – meaning only Brighton Station is open.

But a rainbow queue system has been established to help facilitate passengers as they leave the event.

• The green queue will be for trains on the East Coastway (services towards Lewes, Seaford and Eastbourne)
• The purple queue will be for trains on the West Coastway (towards Shoreham, Worthing and Chichester)
• The blue queue is for stations on the Brighton Main Line (for stations towards Haywards Heath, Gatwick Airport and to London)

Walking to the parade start and most major events will take less than 30 minutes from Brighton Station.

If you’re driving, be aware that a multitude of roads near the main events are closed off with parking suspended.

What’s the weather forecast?

Compared to last year’s event, which saw attendees rained on, this year will be partly sunny and warmer.

Temperatures will hit 20°C Saturday before heating up slightly to 21°C on Sunday with similar conditions.
