
Michael Schumacher remains one of the best and most loved Formula One drivers of all time.
Many F1 fans were left delighted this weekend when the former Ferrari superstar was ‘seen in public for first time in 11 years’ after his nasty skiing accident.
The 55-year-old suffered a severe brain injury following that incident in 2013 and his family have understandably been fiercely protective of his privacy ever since.

How many world titles did Michael Schumacher win?
Michael Schumacher won a record seven Formula One World Drivers’ Championship titles.

That record still stands to this day, although he now shares it with Lewis Hamilton after the British star tied the German in 2020.
Schumacher won his first two world titles with Benetton back-to-back in 1994 and 1995. Benetton, no longer a team in F1, were purchased by Renault in 2000.
Schumacher then moved to Ferrari – almost becoming synonymous with their famous red colours – as he remarkably won five titles in a row from 2000 to 2004.

Following a one-off appearance with Jordan at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix, Michael Schumacher joined Benetton for the rest of the season.
He went on to clinch his first two world titles with the team before leaving in 1996 to join Ferrari.

Schumacher dramatically missed out on the title in the final race of the season in both 1997 and 1998 before suffering a broken leg in 1999.
But the German then won five world titles in a row from 2000 to 2004, becoming one of the sport’s true greats. He finished third in 2005 and second in 2006.

Schumacher retired from F1 in 2006 but made a brief two-year return with Mercedes in 2010.
Schumacher ultimately did not win any race or title during his time with Mercedes and retired again in 2012.
He retired in 2006 but made a brief return to race for Mercedes between 2010 and 2012.
It’s 12 years this month that Schumacher announced his second retirement and 18 years this month since he won his last race.
How many races did Michael Schumacher win?
Michael Schumacher won a total of 91 Formula One Grand Prix races. That is the second most of all time behind Lewis Hamilton, who has currently won 105.
Schumacher’s race wins mostly came during his spell at Ferrari – 72 – including an incredibly dominant year in 2002.

Michael Schumacher previously held the record for the most pole positions in F1 with 68. That has since been beaten by Lewis Hamilton’s 104.

Michael Schumacher still holds the record for the most fastest laps in Formula One with 77 during his career.
His 100 per cent podium finish in 2002 is also still a record which is yet to be matched by any other driver.
