Doctors star Elisabeth Dermot Walsh has reacted to seeing her co-star in BBC’s EastEnders.
The actress, best known for her role as Zara Carmichael in the medical drama, has posted on X a number times in the past couple of weeks after spotting Joanna Bending in Albert Square.
Joanna currently has a role in the soap as Jackie Fairhurst, a social worker dealing with the case involving Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and her violent son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall). In Doctors, Joanna plays Dr Michelle Walton, who arrived at The Mill Surgery in March of this year.
Previously, Elisabeth shared her delight at seeing her co-star pop up in the show. She posted on the platform: ‘Whoah back up. Isn’t that @BBCDoctors Dr Michelle Walton moonlighting on @bbceastenders? A GP AND a Social Worker; she is a woman of many talents! Whoop Whoop @jobendy. Love You. XX.’
With Joanna featuring in last night’s episode of the BBC One soap, Elisabeth returned to X to share another light-hearted tweet about the crossover.
She joked: ‘Can I just say WhatTheActual?? Why is @BBCDoctors #DrMichelleWalton on @bbceastenders Again??!! This is beginning to feel like cheating @jobendy’.
Elisabeth and Joanna’s colleague and legendary actor Chris Walker recently spoke about the end of Doctors.
The show was axed last year by the BBC, with the final ever episode set to air next week.
In an interview with TV Times magazine, he said: ‘I was – and still am to a degree – a bit bereaved, which I know might sound dramatic.
‘My other half, Sharon, said to me, “It wasn’t just a job, it became your identity,” and it’s very sad to lose that. And to not be with all the fabulous people who’ve become close friends. But life moves on.
‘Nothing is forever and the BBC have made their choice, and that’s the way it is.’
