Coronation Street star Maureen Lipman has declared she ‘could kill’ Alan Halsall after he signed up for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
After months of speculation about which famous faces had signed up to become campmates for the upcoming 2024 season, the line-up was confirmed this week.
Among the 10 stars announced so far are Coleen Rooney, Oti Mabuse, Danny Jones and soap star Alan, who has played Tyrone Dobbs on Corrie since 1998.
However, when asked about his upcoming stint Down Under, Maureen, 78, didn’t mince her words.
‘I could kill him honestly,’ she replied when asked if she was worried about him during an appearance on Lorraine on Thursday.

‘He was going to go last year but hurt his knee. If they harm one hair on that boy’s head, although he hasn’t got much, or give him turkey testicles, I will personally kill them.

‘He will be fine though because he is a lovely human being.
‘His life is very sorted, and he is a better actor than you would ever know. He likes his golf, and he will be very guarded at first but if people get underneath, they will find out he is a lovely person.’
When it was officially announced he’d be heading into the jungle, Alan said it felt like ‘the worst kept secret ever’.
‘It was a bit of a shock when I got the knee injury last year and whilst I am signed off surgically, I still have several months of physio ahead of me,’ he shared.

Explaining what he would miss most, the 42-year-old said he wasn’t worried about the small portions of food in camp but was feeling emotional about leaving his daughter.

‘We never spend more than two weeks apart. I am very emotional about Sienna, so it will be interesting to see how I cope, he shared.
‘I tend to try to hide my emotions but with Sienna I’m not very good at all – I think I will have several blubs. She is 11 and so I’m hoping I won’t embarrass her.’
Admitting he wanted to win, Alan did also add: ‘You are dealing with some big personalities in camp, and I am just looking forward to having lots of fun.’
