New pictures have emerged of an exciting Coronation Street stunt that will see the Platt family in peril.
No. 8, home of the infamous Corrie clan since 1991, will go up in smoke just weeks after matriarch Gail’s (Helen Worth) final scenes air.
Last week, Metro exclusively revealed that a number of residents’ lives will be left hanging in the balance, with a source explaining: ‘The early part of the year is going to kick off the new era of Corrie with a bang pretty literally and one of the show’s core families are right at the heart of the fire storyline.
‘With a new boss at the helm, the show isn’t pulling any punches and it’s fair to say some fan-favourite lives are on the line.’
The stunt will undoubtedly kickstart a new era of the show under new producer Kate Brooks’ control.
Local residents close to the ITV soap’s production base in Trafford near Manchester were warned to expect ‘loud explosions and fire effects’ ahead of cast and crew filming the scenes this week.

A post on a Salford community Facebook page – seen by Metro – said that the ITV soap will be ‘recreating an explosion’, with ‘a noise of up to 100db’.
They warned that crew would be working between 4pm and 2:30am, meaning there was a long night ahead for those working on the soap.
Actors Lucy Fallon, Julia Goulding and Paddy Bever, who play Bethany and Shona Platt, and Max Turner, shared a sweet snap of them wrapped up ahead of the night shoots on Instagram.

Unfortunate timing has meant filming has coincided with a yellow weather warning for snow and ice implemented across the UK.

Co-stars Sally Carman-Duttine and Georgia Taylor, better known to viewers as Abi Webster and Toyah Battersby, also shared their own ‘night shoot essentials’ – heat packs and a Marks and Spencer’s meal deal.
Further new pictures show the cast and crew gathering as smoke billows from the windows, which are lit up in an orange glow.

The last time a house on The Street was gutted to this scale was during the 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2010.
Following a tram crash into the corner shop and The Kabin, the Websters’ home was damaged and caught fire. Whilst it was refurbished, it lay empty for six months.
