This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) was left devastated in recent Coronation Street scenes when she discovered that David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) had been lying to her about son Clayton.
David had been hiding visiting orders from him in a bid to stop him from making contact with his mum, before paying him a visit and telling him that Shona wanted nothing to do with him.
To make matters worse, David gaslit her into thinking that her brain injury was the reason she hadn’t seen the visiting orders.
After finding out the truth, a huge row erupted between the couple, with Shona storming out and not returning until the following morning.
David was full of apologies, but Shona was reluctant to forgive, until a heart-to-heart with Roy Cropper (David Neilson) encouraged her to move forward.
However, Shona was harbouring a secret betrayal of her own, which David came very close to uncovering.
After finding an empty packet for the morning after pill in her bag, David assumed that Shona had changed her mind about wanting to have a baby with him – though that wasn’t the real reason she’d taken the pill.
Later, David ran into Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) at the corner shop, who pulled out Shona’s purse and revealed she left it when she spent the night with Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).
David was horrified, and though Daniel assured him that Adam slept on the sofa, he was quick to confront Shona and Adam about the events of the previous night.
They both corroborated the story that they had slept separately, but it later became clear that Shona had committed an infidelity – just not with Adam.

As a way of apologising to Adam for accusing him, David invited him to join them in the Rovers. When he went to get Adam a drink, the solicitor warned Shona that her secret was bound to come out eventually.
