Mason Radcliffe’s (Luca Toolan) journey to redemption takes a massive turn in Coronation Street, as he is attacked and stabbed by his brothers.
The young character has been trying to change after spending time in prison. In the earlier part of last year, Mason bullied Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) so badly, the teenager started researching ways he could end his life.
With help from the likes of Stu (Bill Fellows), Yasmeen (Shelley King) and Tim (Joe Duttine), Mason has slowly but surely made progress in building his life back up again.
Sadly though, that’s all going to change.

As Mason makes plans to leave Weatherfield and escape his brothers, Matty and Logan are at the police station being questioned by Kit (Jacob Roberts) over a missing WWII helmet.
The siblings leave and find Mason and Dylan (Liam McCheyne) at the precinct. They give chase, but Matty and Logan catch Mason and start attacking him.
Heading through the precinct, Abi (Sally Carman) spots Mason bleeding from a stab wound. She pulls off her scarf and tries her best to stem the flow of blood. Eventually, an ambulance arrives and Abi and Betsy (Sydney Martin) take Mason to hospital.
In the initial aftermath, the stabbing is talk of the street as news spreads that the police have found the knife.

‘To be honest, I was really taken aback when I first heard’, star Luca Toolan said, discussing this storyline.
‘I think because for all of Mason’s life, he’s been the one on the other end of it, so I could have seen Mason being the one to carry out the attack rather than Mason being the victim.

‘So yeah, it took me by surprise, but a nice surprise from an actor’s perspective because they’ve given me a really juicy script as well as all the resources that are necessary to do a storyline like this, including working closely with The Ben Kinsella Trust who have been an excellent help.’
