The Masked Singer UK’s latest season is underway, with all 12 celebrity contestants having taken to the stage – and a second already revealed!
Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan returned to the panel this weekend for a new series of the globally popular singing guessing game, joined by new judge Maya Jama and guest guesser Vicky McClure.
On Saturday, Dressed Crab, Kingfisher, Snail, Spag Bol, Tattoo, and Teeth became the first six characters to perform, with Spag Bol the first contestant eliminated on after the panel saved Teeth in the bottom two.
After fans were forced to wait until Sunday to find out that the first celebrity unmasked was Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway, it was a double elimination on Sunday as the end of the show saw Bush and Pegasus in the bottom two.
Pufferfish, Wolf, Toad in the Hole and Bear were the new contestants who survived to sing another day.

It was ultimately Pegasus who was unmasked, revealing Great British Bake Off icon Dame Prue Leith under the horse’s head!

Guesses had included Clare Balding, Jayne Seymour and Joanna Lumley, but Jonathan Ross ultimately proved on the money with his prediction.
After first wondering if it was the actress Leslie Joseph, he zeroed in on there being a Scottish reference and passing comment on a blue ribbon – as well as blue jeans, which are associated with Dame Prue as the established wardrobe of her co-star and fellow judge, Paul Hollywood.

Dame Prue, 84, is believed to be the oldest-ever contestant on the UK version of the show, and her riddle was: ‘Pegasus is timeless, who cares about age? If you’ve got the right words, you can command any stage.’

After being unveiled, Dame Prue admitted she had ‘never sung a note [and I’m] tone deaf, so I’ve been having lessons this whole time!’.
However, she enjoyed the experience, and when host Joel Dommett asked her what her friend and co-worker Paul would think, she responded: ‘He’ll say, “You’re completely mad, you keep doing these things, why don’t you relax and just do Bake Off?”‘
