Molly-Mae Hague has broken down in tears speaking about how alcohol caused her break-up with Tommy Fury.
The couple, who met on Love Island in 2019, left many shocked when announcing their sudden split in August last year.
Just a few months earlier the pair, both aged 25, had become engaged after welcoming daughter Bambi Fury together in January 2023.
After rumours started swirling about the cause of their split, Tommy was forced to deny allegations of cheating before revealing this week their relationship had ended due to his drinking.
Now, in her new Amazon Prime documentary series Molly-Mae: Behind It All, she’s become emotional speaking about the toll of his alcohol consumption.

In the first episode Molly-Mae speaks at length to her mum, Debbie Gordon, about what unfolded.

‘There were exterior issues going on for him that was causing our relationship to have problems,’ she said.
‘He wanted to have a family life, but then also have the life of a 25-year-old boy with no responsibilities. And that’s not – the two don’t go hand-in-hand,’ she added.
Speaking to the camera, Molly-Mae said she ‘never ever’ wanted to be with someone that drank, sharing her mum had a ‘period of time in her life’ when she also struggled with drinking.
‘Her marriage of 25 years had just ended and she turned to drink, probably more than she should have. I was only about 14 or 15 when that happened, and I saw my mum in some states, going through a really vulnerable time. So I have never, ever, ever been around it in a positive light,’ she explained.
Although Molly-Mae said Tommy ‘never had an alcohol problem’, it did still cause problems for them.
‘At my sister’s wedding, I literally pleaded with Tommy, like I begged him to not drink. And, it’s just…’ she said before looking tearful and choking up.

‘I don’t know. It just really sucked. I don’t know why I’m crying now,’ she added.
Going on, she said: ‘It’s just so sad. And like it just, it affected me. That’s why my relationship with alcohol is so damaged. When you reflect on it, it’s really hard.’
Speaking to her mum, Molly-Mae said she could ‘only cite a couple of examples where he’s had some alcohol, and it’s not led to anything disastrous’.
Debbie then told the camera it was ‘heartbreaking how alcohol has really messed things up…it’s been so detrimental and destructive’.
Reflecting on Tommy’s drinking, Molly-Mae said he ‘doesn’t want to be that person’ however her mum said being married to him was going to be ‘rocky’.
In an interview with Men’s Health this week, Tommy revealed he’d become ‘addicted to alcohol’ and his mental health had been ‘in the pan’ after a boxing injury put his career on hold.

He shared: ‘There’s been so much s**t in the papers every single day for the past six months: “Cheater, cheater, cheater; he slept with me; he slept with this girl”. Complete and utter b*****ks. And you can ask Molly herself’.
The speculation was increased after a woman claimed to have slept with Tommy while he was with Molly-Mae, which quickly went viral.
In his first public appearance after the split, Tommy was even booed in the stands at Wembley Stadium in September as he watched the Anthony Joshua fight against Daniel Dubois.
Tommy continued: ‘The reason why me and Molly broke up was because I got addicted to alcohol and I couldn’t be the partner that I wanted to be anymore.
‘It kills me to say it, [but] it’s true, I couldn’t. I loved a pint of beer, loved to drink, and it is what it is. People go through different things in life and we all have our crosses to bear. I’ve got mine to bear.’
Molly-Mae had previously remained quiet about the real reasons behind the breakup, despite the mounting speculation.
In the trailer for her documentary, the reality star admitted she ‘is angry [with Tommy] and very hurt’ but didn’t share anything further.

‘All I ever wanted was to get married. Suddenly overnight, every part of my life changed,’ she said in a voiceover.

In an interview with British Vogue, Molly-Mae said they wanted to keep the details of ‘what went down’ private ‘for Bambi’s sake’.
She added: ‘I do think that [Tommy] will talk about things eventually. I do think that when he’s ready, like, maybe more will be said. But I think that’s for him to do on his terms.
‘It’s not like it’s gossip, it’s real life and it’s, you know, it’s a really deep situation. It’s really sad.’
Molly-Mae: Behind It All is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
