Coronation Street favourite Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) has been left fearing for her son’s future after receiving some bad news amid her murder trial.
Lauren was in court again in tonight’s episode after being charged with Joel Deering’s murder.
The teen hit her abuser over the head with a rock in a bid to save Max Turner (Paddy Bever) from being strangled to death in September.
Joel made Lauren’s life hell, having beaten her and left her for dead, before drugging her to induce an early labour, resulting in son Frankie being born prematurely.
In tonight’s episode, witnesses in the case faced tough cross-examination from the prosecution, though Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was sure to get across Lauren’s good qualities.
Unfortunately, his testimony was interrupted by an outburst from the gallery, where prisoner Brie falsely claimed to have been assaulted by Lauren.

Amid the chaos, Lauren’s lawyer received news from the prison that baby Frankie had been taken ill again, leaving Lauren feeling totally helpless and desperate to be with him.
Her lawyer insisted that she must take the stand, but poor Lauren was too concerned about baby Frankie.
As she faced tough questioning from the prosecution, she ended up snapping, and admitted that she was happy Joel was dead.
Cursing herself for falling into the prosecutor’s trap, Lauren begged her solicitor to let her leave court to be with Frankie, and eventually she reluctantly agreed.
At the hospital, Lauren informed Max that Frankie had an infection, before breaking down and admitting that she believes she is set to go to prison.

However, things may not be as bad as they seem for Lauren, as the case seemed to take a turn when Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) took the stand.

Having done some research, Dee-Dee revealed that Brie had been paid by Joel’s dad Gus Deering to pretend that she had been attacked by Lauren, in order to paint her as a violent person.
Dee-Dee pointed out that to take such drastic action to ensure the jury found Lauren guilty, he must have believed her to be innocent, before pointing out that he was just the latest in a long line of men to have abused Lauren.
