
Two students are dead, including a 17-year-old gunman, after a shooting broke out at a high school cafeteria in Nashville.
Three students were shot at Antioch High School shortly after 11am on Wednesday, including a suspect who had a self-inflicted gunshot injury, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
A teen boy died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting a 16-year-old girl who has died, said police spokesman Don Aaron. Another girl was grazed by a bullet.
The victim has been identified as Josselin Corea Escalante, 16, and the shooter as Solomon Henderson.
One of the victims rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center was pronounced there, officials with the hospital told WBIR.
While in the cafeteria, the suspect allegedly shot at his colleagues and thenturned the gun on himself.
‘Antioch High School is on a lockdown due to shots being fired inside the school building. Metro Police are on the scene. The person responsible for shooting is no longer a threat,’ stated Metro Nashville Public Schools.
‘This is an active crime scene and investigation.’

Shortly afterward, authorities stated the the situation was contained.
The motive was not immediately known.
‘My team and I are closely monitoring the shooting that occurred this afternoon at Antioch High School,’ stated Congressman Andy Ogles, who represents the district where the shooting happened.
‘Please join me in lifting up in prayer those who were injured, their families, and the entire Antioch High School community.’

Students were being taken by bus to a reunification site at 3754 M’boro Pk.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded to the scene.
The high school has a student body of about 2,000, according to its website.
It happened almost nearly two years after three students aged 9 and three adult staff members were shot dead at The Covenant School in Nashville. Police officers gunned down the shooter.
