Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) has handed herself into the police in Emmerdale, believing she killed Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day).
Last week, Laurel attacked Anthony when she saw him violently confronting friend Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler). She grabbed a candlestick and hit him on the head, which knocked him to the floor.
As Anthony came round, he told Laurel and Nicola that if they continued spreading information about him being a danger to children, he would report them both to the police.
Afterwards, Anthony left and made his way to the depot. He was attacked by Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and then killed by Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly), but Nicola and Laurel don’t know this.
As a result, it has left Laurel convinced something terrible has happened to him as a result of the injuries sustained from the attack.

While Nicola has kept relatively calm throughout this, the same cannot be said for her pal. Due to the element of unknown, it has allowed Laurel’s mind to fill with paranoia.
Yesterday, after nearly opening up to Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) at the church, Laurel was seen in her kitchen holding a bottle of vodka. She was clearly struggling, but chose to tip the liquid down the sink rather than relapsing.
After Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) found Nicola in the shop tonight, she told her about seeing Laurel with the booze.

Nicola immediately visited her friend, and was upset to learn the extent of Laurel’s issues. She said that the pressure over keeping the secret is pulling her closer to the booze, and she fears what she’d be like around her family if she was to ever completely fall off the wagon again.
Laurel saw her future playing out one of two ways – she would either relapse, or she would go to the police and tell them what happened.
Nicola did her very best to remind Laurel that they don’t even know what has happened to Anthony, but it sadly wasn’t enough.
As the episode drew to a close, Nicola learnt from Aaron and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) that Anthony had left the village. In reality, Chas had just discovered what really happened to the abuser, but needed to create a cover story.

With that, Nicola rang Laurel and left a message. She said that Anthony is obviously fine, and therefore they could finally think about moving forward.
