Coleen Nolan has held back tears speaking about the grief she’s experienced since the death of her sister Linda Nolan.
The Dublin-born singer and member of The Nolan Sisters died on January 15 at the age of 65 in Blackpool.
Although she’d been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in 2017, Nolan’s cause of death was later revealed to have been due to pneumonia.
Her funeral was held over the weekend, with sisters; Anne, 74, Denise, 72, Maureen, 69, and Coleen, 59, all attending and paying tribute.
A few days on, Coleen had returned to Loose Women, where she spoke at length about her older sister’s death on Tuesday.
‘It’s difficult to say. It’s so soon,’ she responded when host Christine Lampard asked how she was feeling at the start of the show.
‘You have great moments and then you have meltdowns that come out of the blue. But the funeral was a beautiful day, and she would have loved it and the turn out from the public…right from when she passed away people were sending messages, cards and flowers.
‘I can’t tell you how much it means to us. It’s just hard because there was a time when I thought “do I go back and is it too soon” (to return to work) but you have to because life goes on,’ she added while tearing up.
‘Linda had this for 20 years and she wouldn’t want anyone still going through this horrendous disease to give up,’ she continued.
‘That didn’t even get her in the end- it was pneumonia. She was a massive force in a family and now there’s a hole. We all loved her very much and will miss her.’
Coleen, whose older sister Bernie also died of cancer in 2013, spoke about being the ‘baby’ of their family and how there were now six of the eight siblings left.

The panel, which also included Janet Street-Porter and Tanni Grey-Thompson, then discussed the importance of having regular health checks.
After Nolan’s death was announced publicly, Coleen said she was ‘utterly devastated’ and described her sister as a‘beacon of love, kindness, and strength’.
‘Her wit, humour and laughter was infectious, her presence could light up any room,’ she said, adding: ‘Linda had a heart full of compassion and always knew how to bring comfort and joy to those around her,’ she added.
