Toni Collette might not be asked back onto The One Show after she swore, was told off for swearing, then swore again on yesterday’s episode.
The Muriel’s Wedding actress, 52, was called a ‘potty mouth’ by a stern Vernon Kay on the BBC show after she let out an expletive while attempting to impersonate a kettle.
On realising that she’d sworn, Toni’s live reaction was to say: ‘Did I swear? Oh s**t.’
After the expletives, the actress collapsed into hysterics on the sofa next to her Mickey 17 co-star Naomi Ackie, who she was with to promote their sci-fi dark comedy, also starring Robert Pattinson.
Ant and Dec were also on the sofa to witness the hilarious outbursts, which were met by a stony-faced Alex Jones, and an apology to viewers from Vernon.
In all fairness to Toni, Alex asked her to do an impression of a kettle, which seemed to catch her off guard and throw her into a chaotic state.

As she composed herself to become said kettle – which was really impressive, by the way – Toni said under her breath: ‘S**t I can’t believe I’m doing this.’
Taking to social media a day after the on air curses, Toni shared a clip from The One Show and wrote over it: ‘I was jet-lagged and lured into being a kettle. Apparently good enough for Britain’s Got Talent!’

On her completion of the extremely convincing household appliance impression, the Unbelievable actress was met with mixed reactions from her fellow TV stars on the sofa.
While most seemed impressed at her efforts, with Dec remarking that they’d ‘put worse through’ – referring to Britain’s Got Talent.
However, she was confused when Vernon interrupted the fun with a sobering reminder, as he said: ‘We’ve got to apologise because Toni, you’re a bit of a potty mouth. So we’ve got to apologise for that.’
Toni wasn’t following, and asked: ‘What happened?!

Cue Ant and Dec looking particularly awkward on the sofa next to her.
‘Did I swear?’ she asked, appalled, before a knee-jerk expletive followed and she said ‘s**t’ for the second time.
At this point, Toni and Naomi had descended into fully-blown hysterics at her perfect faux pas.
‘Apologies again,’ said Vernon, through gritted teeth.
‘I’m jet lagged. I’m out of control,’ said Toni, wiping away tears from laughing so hard.
People were pretty obsessed with the moment, which is a contender to go down in history with the many starred appearances of Miriam Margolyes.

‘Obsessed with Toni Collette swearing her way through the abysmal One Show,’ said @shirlpuzz.
‘Not Toni Collette saying “s**t” twice on The One Show,’ laughed @SecretVixen76, while @laura_dickson commented: ‘Toni Collette swearing on @BBCTheOneShow was hilarious!!!! Not once but twice! Love her.’
@AntMelia94 said: ‘Our Toni Collette is on The One Show pretending to be a kettle and swearing multiple times…’
@khomsi_miriam commented: ‘Toni Collette swearing twice 🤣🤣🤣🤣 PMSL…. so funny.’
It’s nice to see Toni is so easily tickled, which she admitted to being on the set of this new film under the influence of co-star Mark Ruffalo.

‘What I didn’t know is how frickin’ hilarious he is. He is so funny. Pure hilarity. He had me crying with laughter every day,’ she said.
Meanwhile Ant and Dec discussed the upcoming series of Britain’s Got Talent, admitting that Simon is as harsh as ever.
The One Show airs on BBC One at 7pm every weekday.
