This Morning celebrated F1 racing driver Lando Norris with a special montage but their careful edit ensured Phillip Schofield didn’t feature.
To mark 75 years of F1, they showed clips of various times that Norris had appeared on the ITV daytime series.
Cat Deeley introduced the segment, telling viewers: ‘On the surface, Formula 1 might be all about the cars but it’s the drivers who provide the heart and soul behind the wheel and there is one driver in particular This Morning has kept a close eye on.’
Schofield, 62, interviewed Norris, 25, in 2022, and part of the chat was featured in the clip. However, his face and voice were excluded.
Instead, his former co-host Holly Willoughby’s question: ‘You’ve had a lot of success so young and I think a lot of people will be thinking, what is the secret to that?’ was aired.
‘One of the biggest things is consistency,’ Norris seemingly replied. However, a clip from the original chat shows that this was in response to Schofield asking how he can improve on any weaknesses.

The tribute showing how This Morning had ‘kept a close eye’ on Norris over the years showed Josie Gibson and Dermot O’Leary interacting with the sports star. Alison Hammond even described Norris as ‘This Morning’s adopted son’ in one exchange.
On the February 12 episode, new presenters Ben Shephard and Cat, who’ve been at the helm since March 2024, then spoke to Lando through a video link.

Schofield is forever in the history books of This Morning, having worked on the series for 20 years before leaving in 2023.
The nation was rocked when he released a statement confirming that he had a relationship with a young colleague on This Morning.
The relationship was called ‘unwise but not illegal’ by the TV star, as it occurred when he was married to his wife of 30 years, also before he came out as gay in 2020.

In the explosive statement, Schofield apologised for lying and announced that he is resigning from ITV with ‘immediate effect’, before being dropped by his talent agent.
The news broke just days after Schofield announced he was stepping down from This Morning, amid speculation of a ‘fallout’ between him and Willoughby, 44.
Since the departure Schofield has largely stayed away from TV aside from a brief return in Castaway.

In the Channel 5 series, he was dropped off at a desert island completely alone. He filmed himself surviving in the conditions and reflecting on his life.

Willoughby suddenly quit This Morning a few months after Schofield when an FBI investigation uncovered a plot to kill her and she understandably stepped back from all public life. She is now working on Dancing On Ice, and new Netflix reality show Celebrity Bear Hunt.
This Morning now pulls in around just 500,000 viewers daily. It would often peak at just under one million viewers during Willoughby and Schofield’s tenure.
