There are death fears for Coronation Street’s Ken Barlow (William Roache) next week as Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney) dangerous drugging plan causes him to collapse.
Cassie started working as a carer for Ken last year, but their relationship has turned increasingly toxic, as she has been determined to keep him dependent on her.
As such, she started lacing Ken’s drinks with antihistamines, which have kept him increasingly drowsy and confused.
When Bertie Osbourne recently caught her out, Cassie managed to talk her way out of it by making out that she had slipped alcohol into her own drink. And when word got back to Ken, her apparent alcohol problem only made him more sympathetic.

Cassie managed to get her feet further under the table after Ken invited her to move into No. 1, and she has also been buying luxury goods on his credit card.
Next week, Cassie is up to her old tricks, asking Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) to pick her up some antihistamines for ‘her hayfever’ when she hears she’s popping to the shops.
Meanwhile, she’s busy taking delivering of a new iPad and ordering two designer juicers in Ken’s name.
Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) later suggests to Cassie that they have lunch at the Bistro, and she gets ready to leave a dozing Ken.

However, it looks like Ken might be onto her antics, as the minute she leaves the house, his eyes ping open…
He then attempts to make a call, but just as he reaches for the phone, he collapses in agony – will he be ok?

Actress Claire Sweeney, who plays Cassie, recently said of her and Ken’s story: ‘It’s Ken Barlow, he’s a national treasure!’, she said. ‘I’m going to be Public Enemy No 1! I think viewers are going to hate her. The funny thing is that they’ve just started to like her – they were finally warming to her – and then this happens.

‘In my head, playing her, I’m trying to find saving graces, but I don’t know if there will be any. I’m a Corrie fan and I’d be fuming watching this.
‘Already in the summer when I went on holiday to Majorca all the old dears were saying to me: “You leave Ken alone,”. “Don’t you be upsetting Ken now.” And that was before I’d done anything!’
