Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) has finally discovered who’s been blackmailing her in Emmerdale, but it’s led to her inadvertently getting involved in something much riskier.
A few days ago, Manpreet explained to her friend Ella Forster (Paula Lane) that someone was sending her worrying messages about private images she had been posting online.
The blackmailer made it clear that deleting her account wouldn’t stop them, let alone getting the police involved.
It left Manpreet in a paranoid mess, convinced the person responsible would eventually expose those images to everyone in the village, putting her career as the local GP at risk.
In tonight’s episode, Manpreet got another message from the blackmailer demanding money, and to meet at the Pavilion later that day.
Manpreet told Ella, who pointed out that if she hands them cash, they’d just end up asking for more.
But with so much at stake, Manpreet had to risk it. She headed to the location and waited patiently, but was then taken aback when a certain Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) appeared.
Manpreet believed that Joe was the person sending her the texts, but he tried to tell her that wasn’t the case. Once Manpreet accepted Joe’s claim about him appearing at the wrong time, they went back to Dale Head to talk.
A worried Manpreet explained her situation, but then got another message from the blackmailer, who wanted more cash.
To her surprise (and ours), Joe told Manpreet that he’d like to help her.
The next day, the pair returned to the Pavilion and Manpreet finally met the person who had been making her life a misery.

When they got back to the village, Manpreet realised Joe was having a dilemma of his own. Wanting to support her new friend, Manpreet encouraged Joe to open up.
He did exactly this, but when the conversation ended, Manpreet was left regretting getting Joe Tate to help her.
Returning the favour has just taken on a whole new meaning…
