EastEnders’ Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) is dealt a devastating blow in the wake of Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) funeral next week, when his fruit and veg stall is set alight.
The beloved resident died as a result of crush syndrome in the aftermath of the Queen Vic explosion in February, and the community has been torn apart as a result.
Battling her emotions – and the fact Martin confessed his love for her in the moments prior to his death – Stacey has since left the area to stay with brother Sean.
Martin’s partner Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton), who has no idea of the conversation, has begrudged her for fleeing at a time when she is needed most.
She’s been left to tackle the funeral preparations alone, fighting off suggestions from Stacey’s mum Jean Slater (Gillian Wright).
In upcoming scenes, the day has arrived to lay Martin to rest, and his nearest and dearest are preparing themselves for a rollercoaster of emotions.

Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) are distraught ahead of the service, with the latter’s boyfriend Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) deciding to accompany her – despite Sharon’s advice, given the frosty reception he got from Alfie Moon (Shane Richie).
At the Slater residence, youngster Lily (Lillia Turner) is attempting to support her younger siblings, when Stacey arrives home… and she’s drunk.
Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) turns up and attempts to sober her up, offering a shoulder to cry on. She’s taken aback when Stacey reveals that she can’t face attending the funeral.
Lily tries to put the hurt she feels towards her mother for the sake of the day’s events, as the mourners celebrate his life.
At the wake, Ruby’s resentment towards Stacey reaches breaking point, and an argument soon ensues when the women come face to face at the allotment.
Revelations are exposed, and any chance of a reconciliation between them is blown to smithereens.

Elsewhere, Lily is struggling more than ever and turns to her friend Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) for support.
With some encouragement from her pal, Lily hits the bottle, and Stacey is horrified to stumble across her drunken daughter. When they return home, Stacey’s olive branch goes unappreciated, and it becomes clear that the road to recovery for the pair will take longer than expected.
After a turbulent day, matters just get worse and worse.
Flames begin to climb from Martin’s market stall, as Stacey watches on in horror.
His loved ones gather to see what is left of the cart, as Stacey swears to Lily that she will find out who is responsible and won’t let them get away with it.
