Glen Powell’s mother has spoken out over the rumors that he is secretly dating Sydney Sweeney, branding the speculation ‘silly’.
The pair, who starred in rom-com Anyone But You together, made headlines after they both attended Glen’s sister’s wedding, shortly after it was claimed that Sydney had called off her own nuptials with fiancé Jonathan Davino.
They had already sparked dating rumors after cozy pictures emerged during filming in 2023, but fans went into overdrive over their reunion at the weekend.
However, the Twisters star’s mom addressed the scrutiny, insisting there is nothing romantic between them at all.
‘They’re definitely not together. It was just, like, she was there [at the wedding] with her friend,’ Cyndy Powell said in a new interview.
She branded the claims ‘silly’, vowing that the White Lotus actress is ‘really close friends’ with the whole family – especially bride Leslie – and clarified there is ‘nothing going on behind closed doors’.
‘He’s the kindest person and he is so others-oriented. He loves his family, he loves his friends. And Sydney is a friend,’ Cyndy continued to the Daily Mail. ‘They’ve been friends for so long. They’ve known each other for so long and they’ve both been single and together and with other people.
‘They could have made anything happen that they wanted to at any point. But he’s got so many friends that care about him and he cares about, and he’s got a really nice group of friends that they kind of take care of each other. It’s really nice.’
When asked if she wanted to see them eventually start dating, she added: ‘That is none of my business. I just want what’s best for everybody.
‘I just want somebody that loves him unconditionally and he loves unconditionally, and they take care of each other and live happily ever after.’
Glen and Sydney have always denied any romance claims, but found themselves at the center of speculation after Instagram gossip account Deuxmoi shared pictures of them enjoying a meal in Dallas, alongside a string of friends.
The Euphoria actress jetted out to Texas to attend Leslie’s wedding, and joined in the fun at the rehearsal dinner at Joe Leo Fine Tex Mex.
Glen seemed in good spirits for the bash and looked smart in a green polo shirt, while his former castmate opted for a long-sleeved black outfit.
She is said to have joined his family for brunch during the trip, but he was reportedly absent for the meal.
The ceremony comes after Sydney allegedly called off her own wedding to businessman Jonathan, with a source claiming she pulled the plug on their engagement as ‘she’s not ready to settle down’.
An insider told People: ‘They only lasted for this long because it was hard for her to break it off. They didn’t split because there is no love. They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now.’
The source claimed that the bride-to-be was starting to feel ‘overwhelmed’ within her relationship.
They said while she is ‘in the middle of this magical career that she could only dream of a few years ago,’ this is what she wants to ‘focus on right now’.
The lovebirds were first linked in 2018 and got engaged in 2022, but there have been multiple reports that they have called things off, after claims that the bride-to-be had been staying solo in a hotel.

People Magazine reports that she also deleted a recent photo of them kissing from her Instagram page, and had been sharing pictures without her engagement ring.
Sydney, who has kept much of her romance behind closed doors, has yet to address reports regarding their postponed ceremony.
