Brentford secured a 1-1 draw at Arsenal on Saturday thanks to Yoane Wissa with the Gunners unable to hang onto their lead at the Emirates.
Arsenal thought they’d gone 1-0 up in the first half via Kieran Tierney but his opener was ruled out by the new semi-automated offside technology.
Brentford were perhaps lucky to avoid a red card before the break with Christian Norgaard booked for a rough challenge on Gabriel Martinelli.
It was Thomas Partey who fired Arsenal ahead just after the hour mark with Declan Rice providing the assist after he ran the length of the pitch.
But Wissa levelled it up for Thomas Frank’s side on 74 minutes with a lovely swivel and acrobatic finish to secure a point for the visitors.

FULL TIME: Arsenal 1-1 Brentford
It’s all over!
Odegaard booked
Odegaard is shown a yellow card for a foul on Nunes. Seconds to go here.
Late change for Bees
Norgaard is off for Brentford. Nunes is on.
Jorginho looks hurt
Jorginho just required medical treatment on the pitch but looks OK to continue… Arsenal will be praying that’s not another injury setback before their second leg with Real Madrid.
Five minutes to play
Just under five minutes of normal time to play… Saka has had two chances since Brentford’s equaliser while Jorginho also blasted over.
Yarmoliuk booked
Brentford’s Yarmoliuk is booked for a foul on Merino. That’s three Bees in the referee’s book now.
Both sides make changes
Both sides have made changes since the goal. Merino replaces Rice for Arsenal.
Brentford have taken off Damsgaard with Jensen taking his spot in the XI.
GOAL! Brentford 1-1 Arsenal
Wissa levels it up for the visitors in the 74th minute!
It’s an acrobatic finish from the Brentford forward with Arsenal outdone at a set piece.
‘It’s a swivel from Wissa,’ Alan Smith told Sky Sports. ‘A poacher’s goal, a centre forward’s goal from a man in form this season.’
Brentford make two changes
Kayode and Yarmoliuk replace Ajer and Janelt.
Arsenal still lead 1-0, just under 20 minutes of normal time to play.
Partey off
Another change for Arsenal as goalscorer Partey goes off… He’s replaced by Timber.
The Ghana international looked hurt just before being substituted. Could he now be an injury worry for the second leg with Real Madrid?
Arsenal make triple substitution
Lewis-Skelly, Saka and Odegaard come on for Tierney, Nwaneri and Zinchenko.
GOAL! Arsenal 1-0 Brentford

Partey opens the scoring for Arsenal on 61 minutes!
Rice, Arsenal’s hero against Real Madrid last time out, provides the assist with goalkeeper Raya also playing a big part in the goal.
Raya claims a corner, rolls the ball out to Rice and the Arsenal midfielder runs the length of the field before setting up Partey to slam home.
‘Brentford will be so annoyed with how they got caught there,’ Alan Smith said on commentary duties for Sky Sports.
Arteta reveals White injury setback

Ahead of kick-off in today’s game against Brentford, Mikel Arteta revealed that Ben White is an injury doubt for Arsenal’s Champions League game against Real Madrid next Wednesday.
Quiet start to second half
The second half has started just like the first… quiet. Not much to report just yet. Feels like a Soccer Aid game at the moment.
Back underway!
The second half has just started here at the Emirates. Still waiting for that opening goal.
HALF TIME: Arsenal 0-0 Brentford
Arsenal have been pretty dominant but don’t have a goal to show for it. More coming up after the break!
Trossard shoots!
Trossard goes close this time, forcing another save out of Flekken. The Brentford goalkeeper has been busy in this half. Still 0-0.
Flekken saves!
Arsenal pushing for that opening goal before half-time… Flekken has just made another save for the visitors, denying Rice this time.
Ajer denies a certain goal!
Big chance for Arsenal as Martinelli volleys goalwards but Ajer produces a brilliant block to save Brentford from going behind!
