It’s a sad day for fans of a particularly chocolatey Toblerone treat – as the brand has announced it’s axed one ‘beloved’ flavour.
While it might be curtains for the dark chocolate version, UK buyers will still be able to get their hands on the regular milk, white, crunchy almond and orange flavours, to name a few.
Mondelēz International, the company behind the sweet treat – which first hit shelves in 1903 – confirmed that it had made the gutwrenching decision to discontinue the 360g bars.
‘We continuously adapt our product range to ensure it meets changing tastes whilst supporting growth for our customers and business, and as a result, made the difficult decision to discontinue our Toblerone Dark (360g) bars in the UK,’ a spokesperson for Mondelēz told Metro.
‘While we understand that this may be disappointing for some consumers, we continue to invest in Toblerone.
‘New for this Easter, we’ve launched our Toblerone Edgy Egg with Truffles, while we continue to offer an array of delicious Toblerone bars and Truffles to be enjoyed with family and friends.‘
They added that fans should keep their ‘eyes peeled‘ for future announcements, as the brand has an ‘exciting pipeline of innovation ahead.‘
It’s safe to say that dark chocolate Toblerone lovers are pretty devastated. Over on Facebook, Paul BigPauly Bowman penned: ‘what is it with axing dark chocolate bars in the UK.’
‘First we lost Bounty (which was a travesty), now we’re losing the pyramids. It’s baffling as dark chocolate is better for you than milk chocolate so this is a strange move,’ they added.

Toblerone fans have long been lusting over the dark chocolate flavour. Over on Reddit, @armani_1990 previously said that ‘as a lover of dark chocolate, it’s lovely that.’
@struggle-life2087 was a huge fan of the dark chocolate and almond flavour but added that they ‘rarely have it as it’s very expensive,’ while on X, @TheNotPrivyParalegal labelled it the ‘perfect snack attack for binge watching till dawn.’
And for @kingarthas21, dark chocolate Toblerone was simply their ‘beloved.’ RIP.
Has Toblerone made a change to its packaging?
That’s not all that’s been going on in the world of chocolate.
Last week, Toblerone announced it was making a change to its iconic packaging just two years after it was forced to remove the iconic Matterhorn Mountain from its design.

In 2023, Toblerone removed the Swiss mountain from its packaging after moving some of the chocolate’s production from Switzerland to Bratislava, in Slovakia.
The change was made to comply with Switzerland’s ‘Swissness’ Act, which means national symbols and Swiss crosses are not allowed to be used to promote milk or dairy products that are not made exclusively in Switzerland.
However, Toblerone has now announced it is investing 65 million Swiss francs (£60 million) into its manufacturing plant in Bern, the country’s capital.
