It turns out EastEnders newcomer Nicola Mitchell’s (Laura Doddington) connection to Walford extends beyond ex-husband Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) and their sons.
The BBC soap has revealed she also has history with an unexpected resident, after an affair twist aired during Wednesday’s episode.
Fans saw Nicola making life uncomfortable for Teddy, cornering him at Peggy’s where she discovered he was buying the nightclub.
But while she was there, she bumped into a face from the past when employee Zack Hudson (James Fararr) dropped by, and the pair shared a knowing look.
When they later bumped into each other on the Square, it was revealed they’d previously had an affair when Zack was working as a personal trainer and she was still married to Teddy.
‘My core ain’t been the same since you had a go at it,’ Nicola cheekily told him.
She then asked him to do her a favour and keep their tryst a secret, not wanting Teddy and sons Harry (Elijah Holloway) and Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) to find out.
Nicola then watched on from the other side of the Square as Teddy flirted with Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).
Nicola and Sharon had a spiky exchange at Peggy’s earlier in the episode after they appeared to take an instant dislike to each other.
‘I knew a Sharon once – she used to run an escort agency out of her tanning shop,’ Nicola said.

‘I’ve known a few Nicolas,’ Sharon replied. ‘It’s quite a common name.’
Sharon then pointed out the picture of Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) hanging on the wall of the club, and pointedly told her: ‘That’s Phil’s mum, the greatest Mitchell matriarch who’ll ever exist, just so you know.’
