This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) worst fears came true in recent Coronation Street scenes when daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) was shot by escaped killer Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis).
Rob had made his way back to the cobbles with a plan to get his final revenge on sister Carla Connor (Alison King), roping in Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) to help him.
In tonight’s episode, Tracy summoned Carla to No.1 after being threatened by Rob, and the factory boss was shocked to come face to face with her injured brother.
As Rob brandished the gun, he revealed that his plan was to make Carla watch him die, so the memories would haunt her forever.
Though Carla tried to talk him around, Rob seemed set on his plan, leaving Carla and Tracy with no choice but to try and outsmart him.
With Rob clearly in pain, Carla advised Tracy to look in the button tin for stronger pain medication, knowing that that was where Ken Barlow (William Roache) actually kept a spare door key.
With Tracy having made her escape, unhinged Rob threatened to shoot Carla, before they were both stopped in their tracks by Lisa’s sudden arrival.
Having called the situation in to DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), Lisa couldn’t sit back and wait. Instead, she found herself in the centre of the danger as she entered the house.
With both women being held at gunpoint and Rob threatening to shoot, the race was on for armed police to get to the scene before someone got hurt.

Rob was quick to make demands, his erratic behaviour leaving his hostages and Kit on edge.
With the situation growing increasingly desperate, Lisa took a chance and managed to get the gun from Rob while he was distracted by a call from Kit.
However, he wasn’t prepared to go down without a fight, and they were soon wrestling for the weapon.
As a gunshot rang out, armed police stormed the house, with Carla leaping to protect Rob from any fatal force they might use.

Instead, Kit promptly arrested Rob for false imprisonment and possession of a firearm, while Lisa made sure that Carla was okay.
